About This Project

This full property refurbishment project brought three separate jobs under one programme: a new kitchen, a new bathroom and extension work, with an energy efficiency upgrade carried out at the same time rather than bolted on afterwards.

Running it as one job is what made the sequence work. The extension shell went up first, pipework and wiring were moved while walls and floors were still open, the energy efficiency work went in at that point, and the kitchen and bathroom were fitted last onto finished surfaces. Nothing had to be opened up twice.

For the homeowner it meant one survey, one quote and one point of contact from planning through to completion, instead of chasing a builder, a plumber, an electrician and a kitchen fitter separately. The before and after photos show the finish, but as a whole house renovation case study, it's the order of the work that produced it.

Scope of Work

  • Full house renovation managed from the first survey to handover
  • Structural work, rewiring, plumbing, heating and finishing by one team
  • One point of contact from the first visit to the final walk-round
  • Energy efficiency upgrades planned in while walls and floors are open

Sound familiar?

The costliest renovation mistake? The right work in the wrong order.

New floors laid before the old pipework is replaced. Fresh plaster before the rewire. A brand new kitchen fitted before anyone has decided where the heating goes.

None of those jobs is wrong on its own. Done in the wrong order, they mean opening up finished walls, floors and ceilings a second time and paying for the finish twice. On a whole house renovation, we plan the structure, plumbing, electrics, heating and finishes together, so every stage is done once.

Plan my renovation in the right order
  • Heating before flooring

New floors never have to come up again to reach the pipes.

  • Electrics before plastering

Freshly plastered walls aren't chased out later for a cable.

  • Plumbing before the kitchen

Units and worktops stay untouched once they're fitted.

  • Structure before decorating

You only pay for the final finish once.

I got my insulation done by greentek they were fantastic from the start. On the way we had one two problems from the contractors but greentek took care of it! Kept me informed and solved the issues. They communicated consistently and kept me in the loop.

We required an urgent new boiler installation due to the old one breaking down and being unrepairable. Greentek Energy supplied and fitted a new one at very short notice so our tenants could have heating and hot water again. We are very grateful to Greentek Energy and would recommend them highly.

What it costs

What a Full House Renovation Costs

Every full house renovation is quoted from a proper survey and an agreed scope, broken down stage by stage, so you can see exactly what each part of the work costs before you commit.

  • Property size and condition

How much of the old wiring, pipework and fabric needs replacing once we look properly.

  • Rooms involved

Which rooms are in scope and how far the work goes in each one.

  • Structural work

Knocking through, extensions, loft work and anything that needs steels or building control sign-off.

  • Standard of finish

The kitchen, bathroom, flooring and fittings you choose, which is usually the single biggest variable.

Every quote includes

  • A free site survey, with no obligation to go ahead
  • A fixed price agreed in writing before any work starts
  • Materials, labour and making good, in one price
  • Our own team throughout — no subcontractors marking the job up
  • A written workmanship warranty on completion

We don't quote over the phone from a postcode — the survey is what makes the price fixed rather than an estimate that moves. Finance is available through Ideal4Finance, subject to status.
