External wall insulation for solid-wall and older properties
Properties built without a cavity wall, common in older housing stock across the West Midlands and Wales, lose a disproportionate amount of heat through solid external walls. External wall insulation wraps the outside of the property in an insulating layer, finished with a new render, which improves thermal performance and gives the property a refreshed, modern exterior at the same time.
Because the render is also a weatherproofing layer, the work protects the walls from damp and general weathering as well as cutting heat loss, which is why it's often the highest-impact measure for solid-wall homes specifically.
