About This Project
This solar PV installation case study covers a full rooftop system for a family home: the panel layout, the inverter setup and the connection into the property's existing electrical supply, all completed by our own team on a property in the West Midlands.
The design started with the roof rather than with a package. Orientation, pitch and shading decide what a roof can realistically produce, and the household's own electricity use decides how big the system needs to be to be worth having. That's what sets the panel count on every family home solar installation we carry out.
With the system running, the household buys less electricity from the grid during daylight hours, and the surplus it doesn't use is exported. Because the installation is MCS certified, it qualifies for the Smart Export Guarantee, so that exported power is paid for rather than given away.
