Solar Panel Installers Covering Cardiff and South Wales
Every installation starts with the roof rather than a package. Orientation, pitch, shading and the condition of the tiles decide what a roof can realistically produce, and your own electricity use decides how big the system needs to be to be worth having. Greentek Energy Ltd works both out at a free survey before any design is drawn up.
Cardiff roofs and what they take
The city's Victorian and Edwardian terraces usually have steep slate roofs facing the street and the garden, so panel layout depends on which side gets the light and whether the slate is sound enough to take fixings. Semis and modern estates in Llanishen, Whitchurch and Pontprennau are more straightforward, with larger unbroken roof areas and easier scaffolding.
Getting paid for what you export
Under the Smart Export Guarantee, suppliers pay for the electricity you send back to the grid. To qualify, the installation must be MCS certified and the property needs an export-capable meter. Because we're MCS certified, your system qualifies and we hand over the paperwork you'll need when you apply.
Battery storage
Most households use the most electricity in the evening, when the panels have stopped producing. A battery stores the daytime surplus and releases it after dark, so you buy less from the grid instead of exporting cheaply and buying back expensively. Whether it pays back depends on your usage and tariff, and we'll tell you honestly at the survey if it doesn't.
